The SensationALL team invites runners to take part in the Westhill 10k
SensationALL is calling for 15 runners to take part in the Nicol of Skene Westhill 10k. The charity is the official third-sector partner and a beneficiary of funds raised during the race. Being held on Sunday, 12th June 2016, around the streets of the Aberdeenshire town, the 10k is organised by Westhill & District Community Sport and Leisure Hub (WDCSH). As well as raising funds for the WDCSH sports clubs and facilities, much needed funds will be raised to continue the provision of MSN services.
This is one of the only charities in the area that provides needs-led support, specialised advice, education and sensory-based services, such as soft play, family sessions and social groups, without requiring a confirmed diagnosis from the individual or their family.
Suz Strachan, Developmental Coordinator, Trainer and Co-founder of SensationALL, says: “Although registration for the race is closed and all places have been filled, we have managed to secure 15 additional charity spaces, so if you would like to run for us we would be really pleased to have you on board.
“We are absolutely delighted to have been selected as a beneficiary of this popular race. The sense of community is very important to us, having been temporarily housed in Lawsondale Sports Pavilion since 2012 and more recently utilising office and room space in the Old School and School House in Westhill.
“What the community might not know is that we are currently in the process of a Community Asset Transfer of the council-owned building which will hopefully allow us to make best use of this historical building, while adding extended facilities for the Westhill community. If given the go-ahead this will establish the property as a shared community facility, encompassing a state-of-the-art sensory room, coffee lounge, several community spaces and inclusive play areas both inside and outside the venue for local people to come together and make use of.
“We will find out if we are successful in May this year, but in the meantime, we need to continue to encourage donations so that we are able to fulfil the supply of our services to people of all ages across Aberdeen City and Shire.”
